Certain locations require more specialised equipment for anchor positioning to avoid damaging underwater structures such as undersea pipes and wires. At the same time, moving a large vessel like a barge to the different positions just to place the anchors is not efficient, hence having an anchor boat to place the anchors is more efficient and helps with the precision of the positioning of the vessel and its anchors.
